Hi all, Well I have gone through another gauge. It first fogged up and now is not working. My question is when buying a another used gauge, is there a sealer you could apply or something you could do to make it last longer?

Not really, they either leak or they don't and it's getting harder and harder to find good used ones.

Alternative to buying another one, the only thing you can do is open it up and try to salvage it, check all the internal connections and give it a good cleaning and protection with some electrical spray. Put it all back together, verify it's getting voltage and see if it comes back on.

If you decide to take it apart, I'd focus on the large connector that joins the LCD and main board. Sometimes the extended moisture inside corrodes this connection and the display quits working. With limited success some people have experienced, you might get it to work again.

Didn't know you could take them apart. If so, couldn't you reseal one that's leaking?

Sure, but they still tend to get moisture in them, especially if you store your ski outside. You have to re seal the face of it when you put it back together. Just take the outer metal ring off that holds the clear cover on, then from the rear push the grommet and wires in and it will separate and come apart.

On my GSX lcd film fix, I used contact cement, avoid CA glue (superglue) or you could get the white stuff in the gauge. A lot of people use blk permatex RTV. Since it's improbable to reuse the metal ring, I used a large oring to clean up the face.

If you did want to use CA glue you can get foam safe that will not cause the white fog on clear plastic.

Another thing to consider using a CA glue, it'll be more difficult to reopen the gauge later, using contact cement or RTV makes that task easier.

Try E6000. They sell et everywhere and it is an awesome flexible adhesive that can be cleanly removed in the future. I have used it to reseal the potting on MPEM's, fix cuts in seadooo seats and build Stormtrooper armor, yes I am a nerd also.
