I have had my 2000 XP sitting on the trailer for several weeks, repairing the seat. I take it back to the lake...battery is at 100% charge. Try and crank the engine and the starter just spins. What could be the problem???

I've been trying to take the starter off, already have the bolts loose and out...I have twisted pulled and prying with a screw driver..... how do you pull it out?? Any info would help me out alot...thanks.

Im not sure on a 951 but on a 787 there are 3 bolts you have to take out to remove the stater. One is on the bottom of the case.

If your starter is spinning and not engaging then i would suspect that the bendix is shot not the starter itself. I think you can buy just the starter bendix and have it fixed.

You will have to pull your flywheel off to gain access to the starter bendix, if your familiar to a kawi setup it's just like that.

I don't know if you can pull your flywheel off with the engine still in the boat.

Someone else should chim in about that.

When the starter drive fails, often internal pieces get lodged into the stator and ruin it.

Good luck.

Got the engine out....now the fly wheel?

I was able to pull the engine out, I have the front crank case plate off and looking at the bendix or sprag that I need to get out. How do I get the flywheel off?? I sort of made a boo boo and pulled the magnetic cup off..is there some sort of markings to tell how it goes back on?? thanks

You should be able to tell where the cup was by the rust spots on the flywheel. You will need a flywheel puller to get the bendix out of there. Damn im glad i own a 787 lol.
