2000 Utopia 210hp won't start

My 2000 Utopia 210hp was running fine when it lost power and quit. Attempts to start were curious and consistent. On first attempts, engine would crank and try to fire with the starter gear engaging and disengaging. After several attempts, it would only crank with no sign of fire, and the starter would stay engaged.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.
