Hey guys,

My 2000 speedster has been nothing but a headache since I bought in in July. New steering cable, leak in the boat (which still isn't fixed) and now it keeps conking out. Whenever I give it throttle is stalls.

There is fuel pressure. It seems to run ok at idle (at times). Ever since I bought the boat it would stall if I gave it full throttle from a stand still.

This leak is driving me nuts too. It doesn't appear to be the plugs or the exhaust.

Any ideas guys?

Thanks.

Spark plugs and line that sucks up water and is ejected from the jet were the issues.

Apparently the hose attached to the jet to drain water from the boat while running was acting like a syphon and when not fully emptied, it would pump water back into the boat.

You said it's not the exhaust. Does that mean you removed the exhaust hoses and check inside for delamination? Are the exhaust hoses the factory originals?

We checked that out first thing and put reverse pressure on the whole boat and nothing came out. We thought it was the boot that was on the Steering cable we had just replaced because there was a little water from it so we fixed that but it wasn't the issue.

It was the drain hose that drains water while the boat is running. Pretty strange but everything is working awesome now.

I don't believe the exhaust has been touched since new. I purchased the boat in July and I didn't see a work order for it in the records I received.

exhaust hoses

The reason I asked about the exhaust hoses is because I had the same problem with my 240EFI. After a lot of troubleshooting I discovered that the exhaust hoses were demaninated on the inside. When I gave it throttle the water going through the hoses would get dammed up and block the exhaust.

If you open up the engine hatch and have someone look at the hoses when you try to give it throttle you will see one or both of the hoses expand like a ballon. Also you can just feel the hoses with your hands to see if they are soft. The original hoses had a design flaw and were recalled by SeaDoo. That photo on the left is what a bad one looks like cut open.

My boat would start fine but when I tried to rev above 3k rpm it would stall. My new hoses are as hard as a rock. You can bend them at all.

Ok, awesome. Thanks for the info. Apparently the Marina has run is a lot since I was last up there to make sure this time they got the issue resolved. Seems to be fine now. I will check the hoses and see if there is anything to be worried about there. He also noted that I will notice a huge difference in HP with the new plugs. They must have been faulty or not changed during it's last tuneup.

Stinks that I will be putting the boat away in a couple of weeks. It now just has all the bugs worked out. lol. Oh well.

Thanks again for the information. This site is an awesome community.
