2000 seadoo xp mph gauge

I just bought a 2000 seadoo xp, everything seems to b working right. Starts right up,alot of power and hopefully it cones out good. The other day I took it out to the lake for the first time, and the mph gauge would not work. It would only start working after I would go like over 40mph. And it wouldn't work properly. It would flick back and fourth. I need ur guys help please!
