I have a 2000 rxdi that I replaced the steering cable and I can’t keep the nut in-place.i Believe the cable was kinked and stripped the threads on the transom plate .Has anyone else removed a new transom plate ?a video would be awesome

Are you talking about the pump support that is sealed to the hull? I have done it on a 03 RX DI and it was a total chore, you have to take everything off, including the ride plate (use a bottle jack to pry it off) and just heat the hell out of it and pry and pry and pry. It's covered in the manual in section 14-02.

Anyway, you're talking about the plastic nut to the right of the jet pump and just above the lower right mounting stud that the steering cable goes through right? This is from a 2003 but should be similar:

Better photo without the nut that clamps that cable:

Honestly you might be better off trying to glue it in or something if you can. I had the darndest time finding a new/used pump support - I had a hole in mine.

Also when you take it off locate and mark the shims behind it and put them back exactly as they were removed as that’s what the entire engine alignment is based on.

Ok yes that is the steering that I’m talking about...I found a plate -pump support transom plate..,but yes I’m thinking it’s going to not be easy...so yes I would like to be able to JB weld it or glue it or something...just don’t know it it would hold on the water when it’s getting pulled back and forth on ..
