Finally got my engine back in, new fuel injectors and ski seems to be running great out of the water. Going to put in the water tomorrow, want to thank everyone on the forum for all the help.

Need some help ASAP, have been trying out my rebuild. Have put it in the water twice now and it is fouling the plugs within 10 minutes of run time. I I bought new fuel injectors, seems to be running rich. Want to take on vacation next week, would like to try and figure this out, please help

I have an identical ski, took the modem box off ant trued it, would not do any thing. Are they set up for only one ski or can I do something so it will work on other ski. Not sure if that is the problem, just trying things

Ok I will try that, any other suggestions why it would be running rich. I definitely made sure the oil pump was working and that it was actually getting oil at the engine case. I timed the rotary valve exactly the way the manual said too. Thanks

I switched the MPEM box and it ran worse. I got new fuel injectors off of EBay, exact part numbers, paid $75 each. Could that be the problem, the ski has never fouled the plugs that quick before. I am thinking about putting the old injectors back in, only replaced them because I did so much work to the engine I thought it would be perfect time to replace.

I would suspect ebay injectors.

You know you can send the oem ones out to be cleaned and tested.

I am going to put the old ones back in tonite and see how it runs. If that is the problem I am going to send them out to get cleaned

FWIW, My freshly rebuilt SBT engine I just installed in my 2000 GTX-RFI is fouling the rear plug pretty badly. I think the problem seems to be getting progressively better with more time on the engine. I'm still not completely through the first full tank of gas on this engine, though. Could this be associated with the newness of an engine?

Took my rebuilt ski out on the water tonite, put my old fuel injectors back in and so far it seems to be running OK. Ran it hard for 15-20 min, still starts fine. Going to run it more before I say I bought bad fuel infections from EBay.

Can I say you bought bad injectors from eBay? Almost every aftermarket electrical part for these is junk nowadays.

My ski is still fouling plugs. Need some help ASAP, I am on vacation and my ski ran the first time I put it in the water for about an hour. Took about an hour break and went to ride again and it would not start. Put 2 new plugs it it and it still won’t start. Any suggestions, not sure what I can do right now. I am going to unhook the battery and hook it back up and see if that does anything. This problem started after I had the engine apart.

I'd take it to a dealer and have them do this. Seems this has fixed plug fouling for people.

CLOSED TPS SETTING
closed tps (meaning no throttle)
access the bosch system in the MPEM programmer, then select "adjustment" in the sub menu, choose "close tps" in the adjustment menu ....screen will display
the actual adjustment of the tps and will also offer to adjust it
AT THIS POINT< DO NOT SELECT YES , UNTIL IDLE SCREW IS LOOSENED, AND IDLE SCREW IS LOOSENED UNTIL THROTTLE PLATE IS COMPLETELY CLOSED .....
now, goose the throttle a few times, and make sure it is completely closed ....
now, select yes and it will automatically adjust the closed throttle setting to the new setting ....
NOW,
access the bosch system, in the MPEM programmer, THEN SELECT REAL TIME...(in the sub menu), and turn your idle screw approx 2 turns, and watch the tps setting till it reaches 6 or 7 degrees , this will approximately make your idle speed correct, (it will need to be set in the water at approximately 1500 rpms give or take 50 ....

now, this is the procedure, read it over a few times, before you ever try and do it ...i always read people say its like 4 degrees, mine is like 8 degrees, well, if it is, something is wrong, or you didn't switch programmer to real time,
after the first part is achieved, and you switch screen to real time, ...YOUR CLOSED TPS SETTING IS DONE. ...the 2 turns and 6-7 degrees always confuses people, and it is there to let you put an allen head socket in 1 hand, watch the screen till you get to 6 or 7 degrees, and have a basic preliminary setting .....

now, this being said, i am not ever going to type all this out again, so, you all can copy and paste it and save it your notes ......

After a week of vacation and trying to ride my ski it is still having problems. I can put new plugs in and unhook the battery and hook it back up and the ski will run. Seems to run fine, plenty of power, but the first time I shut it off that is it, will not restart. Have to let let it set for quite a while and do the same steps again. Had a guy tell me it could be a computer problem. Before I take it to a dealer I want to try everything myself.

How good is your battery? Also test your battery at 3500 rpm on trailer. You should be running somewhere between 13-15 volts. No higher or you have a bad rectifier. I know these are very picky when it comes to voltage and batteries.

Did some checks, I was getting right at 13 volts at 3500rpm. I had to charge the battery before I did the test. I have had to charge the battery a few times since I rebuilt the engine. Seems like it is not charging. I am going to do some checks on the magneto and rectifier according to my manual.
