Hi everyone,
My friend had his ski sit for a couple of years and asked if I would try to get it going. I checked the spark plugs and dropped some gas in cylinders. Ski fired and ran for a second. I shut it off and figured it was going to be an easy fix. The next morning, backed into the ramp and it wouldn't fire at all. At my shop I tried again and nothing. Added more gas in cylinders and no fire. Checked for spark and was a faint orange. Compression in the cylinders is 50 psi, I am figuring the rings need to be changed. I also tried putting a jump charger on the battery and still no fire. Do you feel it's the rings also? Rave valves? I wanted to ask here, because I am more of a boat mechanic, even though I have rebuild several pwc engines. Upper build kit is $269, Can I do it without pulling engine? Thank you for any answers or advice. So much for easy fix.........
