I just bought two skis, a 01 GTX DI and a 00 GTX DI millennium edition. the 01 runs like a raped ape but the 00 is pathetic, no power whatsoever and tops out at 30 MPH. someone said it could be the CDI box?? Can anyone confirm this or have any other ideas on what it could be and how to fix it?

did you ride them before you bought them.?...... you prolly need to do the fuel line overhaul... do you have grey fuel lines???

Yes i did ride it first, and i knew it was like like that but i got such a good deal the second ski was practically free. Right now it burns fuel at about 1.5 times the rate of the other ski, but you have to ride with the throttle wide open all the time. It takes probably 300-500 feet at full throttle to get up to maybe 25-30 MPH. Could the fuel lines be causing that? it also won't idle without dieing, but it runs fine, not making any noises, just has no power.

grey lines.. read all about them on this forum their the devil... over tome they disenegrate and disolve... thus causing the notorious "blue gunk" this "blue gunk" WILL clog your filters, selector valve, and also them good old carbs, thus being said if you DO have "grey lines" take them out... replace them...buy a new selector valve, and take your carbs OFF, then go to auto zone buy some new fuel line some #4 hose clamps, put in your new selector valve, and take carbs apart and clean them thoroughly, take your time... alot of people try and do this in a hurry and they get everything togather and still have a problem, only to waste another day doing it all over again.... taking your time probably get it done in one full day!!! good luck

i believe those lines will have some black writing on them something like "tuapo"... sure i spelled it wrong but you'll get the point!:hurray:

Yes I bet it has the grey fule lines, they will also say Tempo on them. I had the same problem. Replace all the fuel line, cleaned the selector really good, and took the filter out of the carb abd clean it good. Took mine back last week and it ran 55mph all day. Take your time and do one line at the time so you dont get it mixed up. You need to buy a roll of 1/4 fuel line from the auto parts store and some new clamps. Not a hard job just takes a couple hrs to do but dont get in a rush.

YEA YEA THATS IT..."Tempo" they must have meant "tempo"-rary... because they cause a shat ton of problems and only work well for probably the first year!!!

oh and ps dealership's suck, if thats who told you your cdi box was bad... almost cauranteed their wrong just looking for a way to make more $$$$... you'll find ALL the info you could ever want here on the forum!!!! buy a case of cold ones before you start... you will get a lil messy, and along that line you'll probably divert to doing other things while your in there...

Awesome! i would much rather replace some fuel lines and clean the carbs than replace the CDI box. I can handle fuel lines and carbs, but that electric junk is beyond me. Well looks like i got a weekend project :)

By replacing all the fuel lines and filters and cleaning the carbs. Will my 94 GTX go faster right now its only doing about 45mph.

???? it should go a lil faster think mine top at 55-60 sumpin like that...did you replace fuel selector valve....and the fuel line fix obviously worhed some what right?

No i havent replaed anything yet i juat got it. Im going to tear into it when i get some time. Im an over the road truck driver so i really dont have much time lol.

makes sense...all you boy's doin this fuel rebuils should also pull and clean your rave valves while your gettin dirty it is a necessity!!! your ride will run much better, faster and smoother after you do it!!!
