Need some Help here i'm new to wrenching on Seadoo's was out with my GF on the lake she went through some seaweed and the ski started to overheat shut it off i cleared out the seaweed and off we went everything seemed fine, however when it gets up to around 35mph or 3000-4000 on the tach it bogs down if you let off the the throttle it will speed back up for a few only to bog down again. Runs great on the trailer or at idle or even speeds up to about 35. I have put new plugs in it. with no change. i have only owned the GTX for about a month and had to put a new rectifier in right off the bat. Any Help would be greatly appreciated...

I also checked the compression both cylinders are around 150

Thanks Todd

Welcome to the forum. I've never had one, but I understand that the RFI's can be a tricky lot..... The only thing that I'd know how to do would be clean the RAVE valves. Beyond that, it's probably a fuel pressure issue or clogged injectors.

I had a similar issue once on my gtx rfi. I found that when I changed my spark plugs I removed one of the small black vacuum lines from one of the rave valves. They are just held in place by zip ties and easily knocked off when working in the engine area.

Hi & Welcome todd,
I can't help you with this problem but give it a couple days for all the experts to see and answer you.

Where about are you in Michigan?

Fireman????

Hey buddy i'm right on the Ohio/Michigan line and yes I work for the Toledo Fire department. I checked all the little lines going to the rave valves they look fine and the valves look ok too

I pulled the Rave valves and cleaned them up. Took the GTX out again yesterday and was hoping for the best but No Luck. Still bogs down!!! I'm about out of ideas next option is the dealership I guess!

You might want to check out the rectifier. Also check all grounds. I had two 1998 gtx rfi's - mine was a bad mpem. I was flip flopping parts from both skis til I could figure it out. But I have to say they were my favorite skis, easy to start for the family, ride nice with good crisp power.

check the line going from the water regulator valve to the stinger pipe if there is any seaweed it will alter how the tuned pipe gets water. also put a meter on the battery when you are running to check the rec. you should see an increase in voltage from while running. When was the last time you had the injectors cleaned? There is a small screen in the top that can clog. There are numberous companies that you can send the injector to and have it cleaned. In the tank there is a filter at the bottom of the fuel pump it can could have a partial clog.

i have only owned the GTX for about a month the rectifier was bad when i took it out the first time and the battery went dead so that is brand new, but i will check the voltage again just be sure i didnt get a bad one. i will check the screen and filter today to see if their clear. How hard is it to get the fuel pump out?

Before you start download and read the manual, you access it through the front compartment by removing the wall. The manual lists a specific patern for removing the bolts. Becareful with the filter as it is not replaceable, you would have to get an entire new fuel pump. How much gas is in the tank? If there is alot of crap on the filter you might want to drain the tank and lean it.

Ok I just noticed that the exhaust hose between the head pipe and waterbox has a tear in it like the clamp wore through it. I was reading a Seadoo trouble shooting chart and it said an exhaust leak can cause a lack of power! Could this be my problem? Could it be that easy of a fix? Gonna replace the hose and try her out again. I will post my findings cause I noticed most guys post their problems but never follow up with what the fix was, for others!

Sent you a PM. Let me know if you do not receive it.

Robert
