Hi,
I recently got 2 2000 GTX SeaDoos and I have had minor issues with both since I got them! I didn't know about the battery disconnect in the back of the ski till this past weekend when I went to put them in the water and they didn't start. When I backed into the water, I forgot to untie the back of the skis from the trailer, and after about 1 min. of figuring that out we pulled them out to untie them. The bilge plugs were out at this time, so a little water got in to the hull, but not much. The first ski I hopped on didn't turn over - it just clicked. The other did turn over, but the battery soon went dead. Went and charged both batteries and they both took charge well. The first one still didn't start - only clicked in the electrical box where the solenoid is. I figured it was a bad solenoid, but to be safe I picked up a new battery as well. I checked connections on the old battery and hooked up the new solenoid - no change - still clicked. Changed batteries to the new one - this time it clicked, but also made a humming sound. I noted that the battery terminals would get pretty warm after trying to start it a couple of times. What's next - the starter? I am new to this, and pulling the starter looks pretty darn intimidating if its where I think it is - on the left side. Looks like I'm gonna have to pull a lot of stuff off to get to it. Do you think this is a job for a dealer or certified mechanic? I am all for not getting too far over my head. The other ski started up fine after the battery was charged. I don't know if water got onto the starter or not - I wouldn't think much if it did, but didn't try to start the ski prior to putting it in the water (so didn't know if the click came before of after that). The ski was only in the water a 30-60 sec. before I realized that the ties were still on - couldn't have gotten that much water in there.
Thanks for any help!
