hey guys! so I have been doing some research and cannot seem to figure out what's going on with my ski.my ski will start up and run the just die randomly sometimes at an idle and other times at 3-4000k rpm's. I have seriously been going nuts trying to figure out what the problem is with this thing. Do you think its the fuel filters, fuel pump, injectors? I appreciate all your help I just want to get this thing fixed so I can ride it!!!! btw when I first bought it about 2-3 months ago it had been sitting since end of last summer with a full tank of gas. thanks again everybody

I think you'll find that you'll need to take it in to a dealer for a plug-in. Reading all about DI's here, most of the great
posters will direct you to do this as DI's are a different animal indeed. You could have issues with your fuel pump.

If it is your fuel pump, a word here though...an OEM fuel pump is about $1000 and an aftermarket one is about $150 but you'll need to modify a few things.

Look at this thread for more info: http://www.seadooforum.com/showthread.php?46680-DI-Seadoo-Fuel-Pump

This is the most current aftermarket unit: http://www.highflowfuel.com/i-90518...on-seadoo-sea-doo-gtx-di-rx-di-2000-2003.html

The jury seems to still be out on these ones but it may be worth a $150 gamble vs the $1000 cost....

Ya I think I am gonna take it to the dealer let then pin point exactly what's goin on with it and then hopefully I will be able to fix it. Ya I have been looking at the aftermarket fuel pumps my problem is I'd hate to spend 150 and it not work after 50 or so hours. Then if have to go spend the extra money anyways ya kno ?

Btw my ski has 160 hours on it what kind of maintenance should be performed on it

Thank you for your help I appreciate it

Well, personally I'm gambling on spending the $150 on a backup fuel pump for my DI's so I don't have to fork out the
$1000 - at least at this point. The problem is is that there is no apparent rhyme nor reason for the pump failure so
even the OEM one can quit at 50 hours. True I'm gambling on the $150 but I like $150 vs $1000.

As far as maintenance goes, the report from the dealer may help you with that in terms of any other codes etc that
may have been reported over the last hours - such as a low voltage warning (regulator issue). The RAV valves should
be cleaned at least at the beginning of each season. I clean mine at the beginning and then either the end or the beginning
of the new season. As far as maintenance goes, I do new plugs each year, lube the PTO, replace the jet pump oil after
checking (possibly). Others can chime in with more technical motor maintenance.

Ya I didn't think about the oem pump goin out again I honestly think the aftermarket pump is my best bet ! And ya I put fresh plugs cleaned the rave valves and fresh jet pump oil.
Thanks again for your help ! Ill probably be taking it to the dealership sometime this week

Hope I helped. Please let us know the results of your dealership visit and the rest of the story. That helps me a lot anyway!

Since you have only owned it for a few months and do not know what, if anything, has been done as far as maintenance and upkeep:

The first thing I would do is check the fuel pressure. Should be 107psi. Anything under that...it will not run.
If you have fuel pressure...great, but drain the tank (bad gas) and clean it really good. DI's are real sensitive to water (condensation) in the fuel.
Check the compressor pressure. Ahhhhh I don't remember what it should be. Look it up in the manual.
Change the inline fuel filter. O'Reilly's has them muchhhhhhh cheaper than OEM.
While the fuel pump is out of the ski during the fuel tank cleaning dismantle it and replace the internal filters inside the pump assembly. You can buy them at O'Reilly's for less that $15.00...don't have the part #'s on hand, but they are easy to find.
Take the pump and submerge it in a 4 to 1 mixture of toulene and gasoline, plug it in and run it for a 30 seconds. You will be suprised how much crap will come out.
Reassemble and try.
Pull the injectors and have them sonic cleaned or replace.

I am sure there are more things to check, but that should get you started.

One more thing:
Voltage regulators on DI's go out quite often. When you get it started check the voltage across the battery terminals. Should read 12.6 to 13.5 vdc. If it reads less than that, or way over that voltage then replace the regulator. After market heavy duty regulators are good.

Takin the ski in either today or tomorrow keep ya guys posted and what's goin on with it. Thanks again for all the help again !

So I ended up not taking my ski to the dealership because the closest one is like 30 miles away and I've been extremely busy at work. So I tested the fuel pressure my self and it would start up run at 110-115 psi then after running for about 1 min would gradually lose pressure. So a new pump is in the mail ! Thank you all for your all help its greatly appreciated
