Hi i am new to the forum and need some advice . I have just got a 2000 model gsx it has the 782 motor and fuel injected , the issue is it runs rough up till 2000 rpm then it is fine . I have asked a mechanic about this and he says that it will run on one cylinder till it hits 2000-2500 rpm this he says is for fuel economy and emisions . Does this sound right or do i have an issue?

remove the black caps on motor, and lift up on the valve stems. If stuck, need to remove them and clean the carbon off.

i had a look and when i took the back cap off the the valve stem stayed down , i pulled on it and it took little effet to get it to come up. The little red caps that adjust the spring tension where should they be mine seem to screwed in a fair bit, are they suppose to be level with the black caps .

if no effort, then they're probably clean/ok to run. Install new plugs, clip plug wires 1/4in back at the boots...that mechanic is a bonehead.

Just had the plugs out and the gap was twice what they should , reset them put them back in and it seems to run smoother ( just running water through it ) so will take it for a spin this week end and see how it goes. Thanks guys

Am in the process of triming the plug wires so i decided to measure the resistance of the plug caps one was 5.16 ohms the other 5.86 ohms , are these with in specs ? Thanks
