2-Stroke Sea-Doo PWC — Who’s Still Riding Them?

These really are just the best fun you can have on the water. Power, speed, agility, small. Man, I miss the 90s. It was the best decade. I wasn’t privileged enough to be on the water much back then but imagine how rowdy it must have been with 95/96xp machine all over the place. What a sight

Man, I’m 49. Just got into these in and around 2014. I so wish younger me would have had one in the 90’s

Its funny, when I'm talking to people and they're asking me about my skis and I say I have a 90s sea doo; a lot of the time they very excitedly ask if its an xp.

The 90's were great. Had standups and worked at a Kawasaki dealership at 16.
Bought a 1998 Kawasaki SXI Pro and 1997 XP brand new. Skis were everywhere.

my 90 sp gets more attention then any of the new skis that are on the water. sometimes i swear i spend more time talking about it then riding it lol

I bought my 97 XP brand new. Rode the heck out of it the 1st 10 years. 1 rebuild around ~420 hours. Since then, I have been doing the maintenance and repairs myself with help from this community!! So glad we have some veteran and eager younger mechanics for these machines on this forum! Still ride it at least once a week during the season!! I am a boat person too, so when I ride a PWC, I want something small, lite and simple. Therefore, the newer, bigger, heavier 4-strokes are not for me. Not knocking them for those whose needs they meet, though. I’m sure they are great fun for the ones whose needs they meet.
I’ll definitely have to get some advice from you along the way! Just bought a 97 xp.

Got a 96 XP and have had it for like 7 years. A great runner but with regular maintenance. Probably got about 80hrs on it since the full rebuild. Very fun ski to play around on.

Here are my two!! 1998 and 1999 GTX Limiteds… Bought them for $1000 each Canadian (about $47 US) and put about $1000-1500 into each one.
The 1998 had a blown top end and the 1999 had a grenaded engine.
Love riding them!!
The older two strokes look way better than the new ones!! They look like shit!!

Seems like the XP and the GTX models are the favorites of the older 2-strokes. I just got a 2000 GTX, with under 100 hrs.
Have not taken it out yet, still need to replace the grey (like me!) fuel hoses. I'm not impressed enough with the 4-strokes to go out and
spend thousands on one. My other skis, all running great, are a 2000 GTi, a 97 GTi. a 97 GSi, a 98 GS, and two waverunners, 97 1100, and a 97 gp760.
