The bilge pump in mine is not secured to anything, just sitting at the back of the boat on an angle. It picks up water when the level is a little higher in the engine compartment but will only completely drain if I dive in there and push it down to the floor.

I am looking for a pic of what is should look like from the factory or a nice aftermarket alternative placement.

Thanks!

Mine is directly in front of the engines way down in the lower part of the boat. It looks like it would be hell to replace. I will snap some pics today and post them.

i have a 96 speadster 170 and my bildge pump is not secured to anything either. it does work! it is all the way in the back of the engine compartment just sitting their on the bottom, it gets 95% of the water out the rest i drain when i take the boat out of the water. i'm not sure if it is stock but it looks like it is. their are no signs of any cut wires or splices, it plugs into the stock harness. if you find out anything let me know, mine maybe wrong too...

Chris2346 - how does yours stay upright? Mine is in the same location but doesn't sit pump side down always. There can be water in there but the pump is sitting up and therefore sucking air.

Bdt1967 - look forward to the pics.

I will check first thing in the morning and get back to you. I will also take a pic and try to post it. (hopefully I can, I never tried it on this site.)

I checked out how the pump is mounted. The pump clips into this little blue plastic cup. The cup thing appears to be rivited to the bottom of the floor. I did take two pictures of it, one with the pump out of the blue cup thing and one with the pump in it's holder. I'm an idiot when it comes to a computer but I know I can send them to your email if you would like.(if you give me a clue how to I will try to post them)

Dear Seadoo Forums,
My spending power and willingness to post my knowledge should be enough to access "premium".

I'll never pay and will tell others to avoid your site.

I think under the reply option (at the top just above the area where you type the message) there is a paper clip icon where you can make attachments.
TIA for the pic!

hope these pics will help, sorry it took so long.

yeah man those pics helped for sure, I have that blue thing mounted down the bottom but the bilge pump is shaped nothing like it or the one you posted. Clearly my bilge pump must be aftermarket. Off to the marina :)

Hey Elite6,

Curious as to what you ended up doing for it and what the marina recommended.
Have a similar issue in that I need to replace my bilge, and am looking at aftermarket -- thinking based on the above, need to find something that will definitely fit that cup at the bottom on my 2003 Sportster ... unless there is a universal adapter of some sort for the round bilge pumps to fit as it is a rounded rectangle shape :)
