is there timing on stator ? 787 carbed engine

No electronic. Its in the mpem. The cup on the flywheel does have to positioned correctly

positioned how? are the marks on anything?

There is a keyway on the crank that aligns the flywheel. If you removed the cup from the flywheel the manual shows what hole and nub need to be aligned.
