Pulled the engine on the 1999 GTX RFI glad I did as I can be much more thorough. Since it had a valve on the Rotary Valve oil feed like I wanted to check for a internal seal leak on the crank. I was getting a pressure drop 2 pounds or so in 8 minutes. So I cleaned the casing really good and filled the rotary valve section with oil. Still no oil internally but a pressure drop same amount so I added some pressure. I noticed a small amount of oil on the rotary valve surface so I decided to check with some soap bubbles. Bingo... and enough to account for the pressure drop so the inner seals are probably good. Crank feels really good. The rings were stuck. Had 80 pounds on one cylinder and 30psi on the other.

This is a first for me. Very low compression and very little cylinder damage. Bores are 1.mm over and I just happened to have a cylinder I bored 1.mm over so I'm gonna use that one. Reason for low compression the rings were stuck. Is it common NOT to see a support bracket on the starter on the RFI? Last Picture.

I don't get to use my lathe very often but lately it has been getting its exercise. One day I'm gonna take some metal off the cylinder Base and tighten up the squish. I might do that to my ski since my wife's is still faster. Give it some "bump" On a side note, I'd sure rather do this kinda stuff than polish the hull. Touchdowns everyone !! Stay safe from the virus.

I thought of you Miki when I pulled the starter. It said Denso on the side. Is that OEM or a fake one? :D

I am sure it is an good Denso starter but as far as I know seadoo has always painted them with the engines so it should be silver just like the engine if it is the one that it left the factory with.
