The nice thing about the snorkels, diaper and flaps with flap hangers is they all reduce the chance of scooping up water from in the bilge. They also reduce the chance of a water leak around the pipe manifold squirting water into the air box.

Absolutely this...

Water ingestion will kill a 951 faster than anything, except maybe running lean.

Ok il will check that when I get home tonight. Looks like very easy check. And I looked online real quick ebay and such. Is there a site where I can buy the airbox snorkels? I think I have 1 kicking around but clearly need 2 haha.

Easiest one stop for everything you need is Nick or Jess at Westside Powersports.

1 I dont have the bib setup so I need to order that.

2 the ski ran decent. Had some skipping going on at low and mid throttle. Guessing a carb rebuild is in my future.

Any other reason for a skip and some mid rpm heaseation?

Another reason for the air box, often overlooked by tuners, besides preventing water intrusion, is that there is less noise. After any rebuild, when I do my break in, and out of the hole water tests, since all engines are different, (especially after a rebuild, larger piston, etc, ) with the seat off, I can reach down to set the the low speed pilot screws , which is much easier to do, and impossible with the air box on. Of course I do this on calm water with no one around to annoy.
