1998 Seadoo Sportster... Wear Rings... whats needed?

What tools, gaskets, parts do I need to complete the task? Any part numbers and locations as where to buy them would be helpful. I already have the shop manual.

Wearing ring?...

There have got to be 1000 posts on this subject. Please use the search engine above and use the keywords....wear ring, wearing ring, wearing ring replacment.......etc....

I searched for two hours with the search nothing shows the relevant part numbers I need.

Also anyone know the part number for this blue thing pictured or what it is called?

thats a driveshaft sleeve #19 http://partsfinder.onlinemicrofiche.com/seadooforums/Seadoo_oem/Seadoo_JB.asp?Type=13&A=27&B=14

You needa impellor removal tool, which can be found on ebay, but other than that a bench vise, and 17mm, to remove the 4-nuts securing the pump assy to hull. There is a "neoprene seal" on some boats/skis, but think they got away with them, because the wear ring protrudes from housing slightly, which creates the seal, but I just did mine, and I installed the seal. good luck

DAMN..... you need the wear ring, with last 3 numbers"290". Just replaced mine stud, same boat.

Get sawsall and cut a "V" into wear ring, if still hold'n outer shape/cant remove it. But will need impellor removal tool, or pull the driveshaft and with "cautious" iuse it, to remove the impellor (put shaft in vise)

i don't know how this happened man. I got the long buzzer sound from the code buzzer or beep. The left engine was running and then it starting not putting out any thrust. When i pulled it out of the water, this is what I found. Lucky I didn't burn up my engine..

Shouldn't cost a whole lot, I just need to find out where to get one of these. There are some on ebay, but I need to find out what motor we have so I will know what size to get. I can't find the one with 290 at the end on ebay. Where did you get yours Timmyboy?

I need to find out how to remove the impeller...do I have to use the impellar removal tool, or can I use somthing else?

I wonder if you have to remove the impeller to put on the wear ring?? Those impellar removal things are like forty bucks on Ebay, and I'll probably only use the thing once..I wonder if I could use something else, or use one from someone on the forum..I remember when i had my XP I had to buy a dang 40 dollar wrench from seadoo to get the exhaust off....any suggestions please!

tres..you can use your driveshaft. Put in vise, then prop the hosuing on it, then remove cone, and spin the spin the shaft that was under the cone.

Lucky me, neighbor around corner, works for Skat-Trak, he has tons of them.."290".

You could remove the wear ring without removing impellor, but you'll need to "walk" you cut, while tuningthe blade.

Replace wear rings, and driveshaft protector

Funny how the problem solver setion starts filling up when the weather gets nicer, and everyone starts getting out!

I ordered the wear rings, but as you can see the drive shaft protector looks damaged also. i wonder how much of a pain it would be to replace these?

Thanks,

Greg

I removed my wear ring without removing the impellar. Its a PITA! Next time ill deffinatly be getting a remover. And that way you can have a closer inspection of your impellar
