1998 seadoo sporster flush valves???

I have a single engine sportster... It has 2 engine flush valves one on the top right of the engine compartment and one in the back.... The top one has a cap on it ...the back one does not...... should they both have caps on them???? I ran the boat on the hose connected to the top flush valve and no water came out from behind the tow rope tie off..(where it is suppose too let you know it is cooling) until I capped the rear flush valve....then there was a stream of water from the tie off
Why is there 2 and should they BOTH be capped????


also there is a black fitting on the right side of the boat ..below the throttle you can unscrew a cap and it looks to be a hose fitting with a screen what the heck is that???

When back flushing, you may not get water out the pee-hole. It just depends on how much water your hose puts out.

The top port is your flush port, and it should be caped. The rear port is a cooling exit. DO NOT CAP IT WHILE RUNNING !!!!!!! You will over heat your engine. The only time you cap it is when you winterize the boat. You put a cap in it, to hold anti-freeze in the engine. Personally, I take the cap off the top, and use it in the back during the winter so I remember to remove it before the first trip out.

Got it top cappped in summer rear capped in winter... Then what's the side connector for it's below the throttle

Bilge pump drain, do not cap that either. It is where the water gets pumped out from when the bilge pump is in operation. Do you have an owners manual? Download one if you dont and read it. There is alot of good information you need to know.:thumbsup:

Note the fitting you mentioned may also be the Fuel tank vent as it sits near the bilge outlet. If it smells like gas you will know right away.

I have a manual and it says very little about these...Lets look and the rear of the boat.. and see if got this right... the hole to the left of the pump right by the license plate is a water outlet.. (water comes out of here when running) The left top also has water coming out when running but can be used as a flush valve.and the top right on is the buildge outlet and the one not in the picture is the flow thru valve.....there is ALSO a flush valve located up by the left side of the engine compartment ....when I ran it on the hose I had water coming out from the exhaust...the drain by the license plate and the top left flush fitting.......NONE from the tow tie down.....it would come out f the tow tie down if i plugged the flush fitting with my finger......why have two or three flush fitting??? I am use too working on jet skis this is my first jet boat and confused on all these flush fittings........ also what the heck is the fitting on the side in the second picture.....

In picture one. The port that has the threads in it is a water outlet. and the port to the right is the bilge outlet.

In picture two. The black fitting is fuel tank vent.

What year is your boat? 95?

Once again thanks dr honda..... questions answered.... leave back one open in summer cap in winter when winterizing... man jet skis were a lot simpler .........and it is a fuel vent....thanks again

The boat is a 1998 sportster... it is the one with blue and white interior and blue dash.....

In picture one... the port way down by the license plate is a water outlet from the exhaust manifold.
