I am going to look at a 1998 gtx tomorrow that has not been on the water in a couple years. Don't know much about that engine, my other skis are 787's. Anything to look out for, is the 947 a solid engine?

Personally, if all your other skis are 787 I wouldn't even go look. I like commonality of parts and do much easier to work on. The added power of the 951 is nice but if it's at 150 hours you're almost at rebuild time. I would check compression and water test, whether it's mint or not. Just my $0.02

Thx for advice racer I agree with you, I know the 787 very well. But I need another 3 seater and am going to look at 2 skis on double trailer, 96 spx, 98 gtx $1800-2000. Can sell spx on my single trailer for $1500 ish. Leaves me with gtx and double trailer for $500.

Bought them today, 1700 on a double trailer. 100 hrs on the GTX! Will post up some pics when I bring them home.
