What about checking the whole coil box - water or dirt etc inside.
You might be able to check visually the mpeg to see if it is damaged. I would also check the wires for corrosion or damage, maybe the fuses as well. You could try a multimeter for the stator. I'm guessing you tested the spark plugs first if your think that's its the stator, coil, etc. The mpeg should beap if its not working or there is a problem when you attach the lanyard. Hope this helps a bit.

There should be some wires that you will have to jump that come out of the stator, I think they are yellow but could be any color, and they are under the stator itself. I think its measured in ohm and that's what you set your multimeter too. But I'm not sure what the measurements should be for your year or model, which is why a manual would come in handy. You might also find that the wires are corroded or maybe even have broken off, which is why you are having problems. If you can figure out which wire is pos and neg then you should be able to then test the resistance on the stator. A higher or lower resistance than the designated range (manual, etc) then it will probably have to be replaced. I hope this helps.

The areas I would check would be battery, ignition, stator,coil,fuse,mpeg and spark plugs (if I'm missing something let me know 
) . If you've done everything except the stator then I dont see what it could be unless you missed something simple such as a wire or something.
