Oh I always use the indicators. I get everything I do as perfect as I can. My trade is Machinist and I worked in job shops for 8 years. We didn't make a lot of new parts in groups. Usually one off but mostly repairs. It was very interesting work and probably why I like messing with the skis. With the 4-jaw chuck you can move each individual. 3-jaws just grab all the same and you can't adjust so accuracy is out the window.

I wasn’t trying to get free parts from your pile - I was just amazed that your pile was extensive enough to find a suitable pump. That is freaking amazing!

So how big is the pile-o-parts you have? Where does one find a pile-o-parts?

I have a shite load of 2-stroke Seadoo Parts. I bought a lot of skis and sometimes I only wanted the trailer and I ended up taking parts off and scrapping the skis . I ended up with a lot of stuff and many Seadoo parts fit other years and models so that is great for me. I could fill up a 13' X 23' building with parts piled on top of one another. I know this because my wife's hot house is half full and I got parts in other places. LOL She stole my pool room for her embroidery so I took over the hot house she doesn't use. This is maybe 20% of what I have. LOL

Very cool. I am always amazed how precise we can get when using indicators. My mechanic friends think I am joking when I tell them that I can (and need to) tram in the machinist vise to within a thou or two, and often under a thou.

I have a Grizzly G0602 10x22 lathe at home along with a Grizzly G0704 mill. I also have a Novakon CNC mill (similar to a Tormach CNC mill).

I picked up a manual machining degree along with a CNC machining degree at the local community college for fun after I retired. After using real Bridgeport mills and Hardinge toolroom lathes, I am finding my benchtop equipment a little on the small side.

I have about 16 or so skis. I am fortunate to have enough land where it doesn't look like I have many skis. You can't really see them unless you're looking.

This is my Accelerator Pump test rig. Nuthin much go it, just feed fuel to the accelerator pump and make sure it is squirting a good supply of fuel into the bore. Can you see the small orifice in the accelerator pump feed line. You gotta know where that thing is or you'll throw it away along with the factory fuel lines.

Going back with the injection system was a real pain but it is nice. I cleaned up the oil tank and checked the seams on the injection oil tank.. I had to order special parts as this system isn't like many others. Just like the drive shaft and other items. Gonna be schweet though.

I started restoring Seadoo 2 strokes about 2 years ago so comparing numbers isn't fair. LOL I don't hardly ride them unless I'm testing. I like getting old stuff working. I need a submarine.

Well.... I was gonna try to reinstall the exhaust pipe as a single unit. That might have been nice but I noticed some scorching near the exhaust clamp so I had to take it apart and check for an exhaust leak. Sure enough I had a lot of scraping and cleaning to do on the joint. I usually don't have a lot of trouble remounting the exhaust but this one proved difficult. The lip is just too dang small on the flange so getting it centered is a real beyotch. I cursed it out enough and the azzhole that designed it and maybe his Mom (my apologies Mom). More importantly.... SHE BE READY !!!

Not having the exhaust gaskets (waited 4 days) caused me some issues. I had the carbs installed and figured I could just mount the exhaust manifold. Don't do that if you can help it. . That made it more difficult to install but not impossible.

I am looking forward to getting the ski out on the water for the first time. The beeper isn't working so I'm gonna fix that pretty quick. I keep a number of them at the ready. For me the better makes it easy to know what the ski is thinking. LOL Like "Yea Gene lets go ride" or, "F U Gene I'm callin in a snow day."

If you're interested in new beepers for about $20 this is them. Call first though and make sure nuthing has changed on the part numbers.

I think this job done went past the MINI RESTO stage but it's ready for the water now. Let the tweakin begin !!

Took the GTX out on the canal today for a ride around and first break-in. First priority is always... IT FLOATS !! Put an hour on the engine.... very gentle. I don't go by fuel burn but by time. Next outing I'll go up to 50% throttle but weill stay well below that most of the time. Warm up to me is most important. I stress that with everyone. 3-5 minutes at idle and low low speed. After that bring up the speed slow and make sure everything is OK. Gentle.

I ride with the rear seat off to monitor any water leakage and/or strange happenings.
