1998 GTX Limited Fuel Lines 2 Sizes?

Hey Everyone,

I just bought a 1998 GTX Limited 951 engine in really nice clean shape, it has the grey fuel lines which I'm looking to switch out. while looking at the parts diagram I noticed its 2 different sizes 6mm and an 8mm. I'm wondering how many feet of each do i need, i remember replacing my 97 787 spx with 1/4" fuel line and needing 23ish feet all together. With this Ski having 2 sizes I'm guessing i need less of each. if anyone can help with the sizes and how many feet of each i need id appreciate it !

Thanks!

The main lines are 5/16" and only the return is 1/4". Each model is a little different for length so probably 15' of 5/16" and 6' of 1/4" should get you by I think.

You can use standard automotive black fuel line.
I would also suggest replacing the fuel selector and you can get the WSM brand.

I thought i would need more of the 1/4" than the 5/16" I was looking at the parts diagram for my 1998 GTX limited and it seems most of the lines are 6mm which is 1/4" correct? and only three small lines are 8mm according to the diagram. for the fuel selector I will buy OEM as its not much more than WSM here in Canada

On the 951 all the lines are 5/16 from the tank to the fuel selector and the selector to the carbs except for the return line which is 1/4". You do not need to replace any of the vent lines.

The OEM fuel selector has been discontinued so unless your dealer has one on the shelf you are out of luck.

"legally"... one should use USCG approve fuel line, but yes, many people will grab car fuel line.
But those are the correct sizes/lengths.

I see! I'm just oddly confused by the parts diagram! It shows all the lines being 1/4 (6mm) with only the return being 5/16 (8mm) !!! is it possible the diagram might be wrong ?

It will be more difficult to get USCG lines, I put regular auto fuel lines 1/4" in my 97 spx without any issues. was able to get them from the local hardware store, so I will probably do the same once i figure out lengths and what I need. I'll probably rebuild the carbs while I'm at it with 165hrs on it they will probably need some attention even though ski was dealer maintained. I'll just grab some OEM mikuni rebuild kit from OSDmarine and rebuild it just incase

Sure, buy a bunch of 1/4" fuel line.
I have only been working on these for 28 years, what do I know?

Let me know when you need more 5/16.........

All the #11 you have in red in your first picture are the vent lines you don't need to replace and the one return line that is 1/4" just like I said.

All the ones in your second picture in red are the 5/16" ones from the tank to the selector to the carb, just like I said.

My apologies I didn’t mean any disrespect, I was genuinely confused with the diagram. Im sorry if I came off as prick. I will buy exactly what you recommend, I appreciate all the help you guys have given me on this forum over the past couple years. Thank you!
