1998 gsxl info gauge not working

Hi, the info gauge is not working. The speedo on the right still works however. What should I check first?

As i understand it power goes to the speedo and then to the info gauge? So is there anything else I should check before ordering a new gauge?

Make sure both 12 volt lines going to it are hot, and you've got a good ground or else it won't come on. Should be a purple and a red/purple, but check the wiring schematics in the service manual to be sure.
