1998 gsx limited vts problems please help

i recently bought a 98 gsx ltd and the vts isnt working i pulled the motor and tested it and it works in both directions but everytime i hit the trim switch up or down it just clicks and dosent move the trim. if i manually turn it the guage shows its goin all the way down but not all the way up it stops about half way.

Check the connection. It maybe a bad connection. Check to see if the switch has a good connection or not. Who knows, you might get lucky

how would i go about and checking the connections

Pull the motor again, disconnect the rod from the steering nozzle and pull the plastic gear out, check and see if the plastic block slides around the plastic worm gear, lubricate with white lithium grease.

the problem seems to be with the vts switch it dosent do anything, but the motor does work what else could it be.

Here's a troubleshooting guide for the VTS, it's pretty complicated, you might want to consider buying a trim fix module instead.
