Gents,

I am working on my ski and have a question or two on aftermarket parts. Currently, my SPX has a solar prop, aftermarket sponsons, jet dynamics intake, and an aftermarket air filter (not sure brand). My questions are what is available (if I can find them of course) in terms of aftermarket bolt ons that doesn't require in depth tuning or anything major? Specifically water box, trim tabs, and pipe. Any direction would be most helpful.

Waterboxes don't do anything but make your ski louder and more annoying.
With all your other mods you should have aftermarket trim tabs.
As far as the pipe it is an easy bolt on and way more performance but you will have to tune it, take the time to mess with the jetting and risk burning pistons.
Pipes are great but take time, patience and skill to get them to work and with all your other mods it isn't going to be a simple bolt on.

My opinion is keep it simple and enjoy riding your ski instead of spending all summer tuning it.

I have a few different brands of extended trim tabs for between 50 and 100 shipped. Text me during the day at (850)259-1581 if you want pics and prices.

I have tons of other aftermarket parts also but they are a lot more involved as Mikidy was saying.

In my opinion modifying these things is more trouble than its worth. You can either spend half the day wrenching on a modified ski or spend the whole day having fun on a stock ski. I met a guy at the lake one summer who had a 96XP with a factory pipe, buckshot carbs, head, and trim tabs. His 96 XP with all those mods still wasn't faster then my bone stock (engine) 95 XP 800. Even though the guy probably had about 70lbs on me, I thought for sure he would of made up for it with all those mods and than some. Guess not! I honestly didn't have the heart to tell him my ski was stock as I felt so bad for him. Since I have been down the road of modifying, it was obvious he didn't have it tuned right or his engine was getting tired (low compression). My 95 XP800 clocks in at 61MPH on GPS and my 98 SPX is right around 57-58mph depending on water conditions so they are in tip top shape. My vote is keep the engine stock and focus on handling and pump mods. Good luck!
