When I got my XP a month ago it read about 135 PSI on both cylinders. I've put under 2 hours of run time on it due to having to replace the fuel/ vent system from the baffle pick up to the carbs, rebuild the carbs, and I recently found that there was no o-ring on the rotary valve (rest of the rotary valve was in spec). I was having trouble starting it but once I replaced carb/ fuel system it would start good on the trailer but would struggle to start in the water. I will be putting a new O-ring on this weekend so that means everything fuel, carb, intake will be fixed. Hopefully this helps my hard start problem.
Before I took the rotary valve off, I checked compression again and the PTO cylinder read 125 PSI and Mag side read 135. Will I gain any cylinder pressure back when I put the O-ring on the rotary valve?
If I will not gain pressure from fixing the rotary valve then I feel as if it needs a top-end rebuild. In either case I would like rebuild the top end during the off season or when I have time. Can anybody point me to where I can get a top-end kit? And, can I rebuild pistons with the engine in the machine?
