I have a 1997 Seadoo gtx and when I run it on the normal fuel line, it runs at its normal 3,000 rpm (on land). However, when I switch it to the reserve line the rpm starts to go up after about 60 seconds. It hangs out at 4,000 rpm and then goes up to 5,000 rpm. After that the rpm goes down and it quits. It still runs fine on the main fuel line, but it only does that when it's on reserve. Anyone know what's going on?

Do you have Grey Tempo fuel lines?

Chances are the selector is bad and allowing air into the fuel. Causes a lean condition but increases RPMs. If I am correct, this will burn a hole in the piston. Replace the selector.
