Hey guys...I have a big issue here!! I have a 97 seadoo challenger with the 787 engine inside. Single engine. It has always started true and never given me a problem---until now! I am in the process of selling the boat and i had a guy come over today. I started the boat up and it started fine as it always does. I let it run for 10 seconds and shut it off. He agreed to buy the boat but wanted to water test before he buys it tomorrow. I went to start it a couple hours after he left to show my father in law how easy it starts and of course it didn't start. I heard it give me a couple faint trys and now i'm only getting one click. It is giving me the 2 beeps when i put the key on. So far i've removed the spark plugs and had a jump box on the battery and tried to start it and it didn't turn over and gave me the one click. I also removed the spark plugs and turned the pto by hand to make sure it's not blown and it turned nice and easy. I'm really at a loss of what the issue could be. I'm thinking the starter or maybe???? I'd like to get the issue fixed before i sell it tomorrow!!! HELP!!

I have the battery on charge. But even when i put the battery on 15 amp charge the battery light comes on as full. I am leaving it on a 2 amp charge. As much as i want to say it's the battery i don't think it is. It has never showed me any signs of being dead or dying in anyway. But def i'm charging it still. Wat do you think it could be if it wasn't the battery? I'm trying to troubleshoot it thinking it's not the battery....please let me know.

Your not going by what the charger says. Seadoos are very sensitive to voltage amount. DO NOT jump a seadoo, it will fry the MPEM!!!!... It will not start below a certain voltage amount!!!.. Charge for a little while and report back.

Currently it has been on charge for 2 hours on a 2amp charge and still it is just making one click when i go to start it. Considering a new battery...but i just want to be sure i'm not wasting money on one. I won't jump it. What i did was i used a battery starting box at a 100amp start...i won't do that again. Thanks for the advice on that.

You can always jump the selonoid to be sure. Or swap a known good battery to verify your old one is good. Time constraints are a bitch.

This might sound stupid but where is the selonoid? Yeah time constraints are def a bitch...this sucksss!!! lol Also if it starts from selonoid that means battery is dead?

I'll try my car battery next.

I checked battery and starter connections and everything is tight. It gives me the 2 beeps which i read was ready to start. It has always given me 2 beeps before it starts too...so i think we are good there. Literally it was starting fine and then all of a sudden...no more and just the click. I didn't even move it. So not sure what could of happened.

K. Goin old school here. If you have someone else to help you then grab them.
Grab a hammer and whack the starter as they hit the button. ..or do it yourself

PHILDOO!!!! Old school did the job man!! YES!! lol. I wacked it a few times while the ol lady hit the start button and she started up. HOLY **** that is so sweet!! Thanks man!! Thanks A LOT!! haha

Lol.. It's a little corrosion on the starter armature. Just unhook the MPEM and spin it to make a good contact , then reconnect the MPEM. Or put on a new starter. Your choice!!
Good job. :)

Again maybe another question that i should probably know the answer too but where is the MPEM? Isn't that an electric module of some kind?

I wouldn't worry bout it. If your selling it , just start and restart it it couple times and it should be ok. The starter landed on a bad spot and couldn't connect. Glad you got it going quickly.
:)

Yeah i guess you're right. I'm going to tell the guy so he knows it could be an issue. But Def all props to you Phildoo! Thank you VERY much!! You rock!:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Haha...LMAO! Also along with the coast gaurd gear i'm giving you my hammer in case of hard starts...lol

Its inside that grey box all the wires run to.

Take the screws out and the cover comes off. Unplug the connectors to the black box inside there. Then jump the solenoid over as suggested by Phil.
