Hi every one noob here. My dad has a 1997 seadoo bombardier gtx that runs great for about 20 min then slows way down. It won’t go over a few mph.

If it sits for a day it will run great again.
He’s had in the shop a few times and they run it on a hose and it runs great.

Could this be a tps sensor?

I fix a lot of things but am very new to this. Thanks for any help

Nothing electrical will do what you are describing. You either are pulling a vacuum in the fuel tank, or it's overheating.

First... verify that your beeper and temp sender is working. If that checks out.....

second... when out riding... when it slows down... stop, and open the fuel tank, and listen for a "Whoosh".

But do the temp thing fist !!!

Thanks, sorry it’s a 1995 if that matters.

I do know there is no beep sound when you plug in the key.
Also how do I test the temp sender? Sensor?
Looks like the 1995 temp sensor only has one lead from pictures I have found. 2 leads I could check with meter.
The seadoo was flipped over awhile back.

the other guys said... DO NOT leave your internal filter out. Also... since you know the fuel lines were decaying... did you replace them all?

Well... a 95 to a 97 is a totaly different beast. But the test still are valid.

Even without an MPEM, and a start up beep... there is a buzzer. Ground the wire going to the center of the head, and listen for a beep. If there's no beep... replace the buzzer. Then, remove the sender from the head shell, and hook it to a meter. It should be open. Then, put it in a pot of boiling water... it should go closed. if it doesn't check... replace it.

I have a 1996 SPX that is doing the exact same thing. Runs great for the first 20 minutes or so and then slowly starts losing power. Took it out 2 days ago and about didn’t get it back to the boat dock. Took it out again today and now having the exact same issue. What fixed this for you?

Did you replace the fuel selector with an oem one? When this happens always switch to reserve.

When this happens Mcgriffith, open the gas cap and see if it fixes it. If your check valve is stuck closed the tank will build a vacuum after a few minutes and starve the engine of fuel.

yes i am the one who said leave the fuel filter out of the carb because if you read what i said i installed a fuel filter before the carb and the one i installed is brass ends and glass and has a replacement filter inside which i can see if there is any dirt or any thing inside the filter sure is quicker then taken the carb off to get at the internal fuel filter and i did this 5 years ago and still runs great change your fuel lines
