Ok I need some help!! i have a 1997 GTX (787) that smokes pretty bad above 4000 rpm. I have rebuilt carbs, new plugs, good compression (140 psi),checked oil pump alignment and throttle syncronization, rebuilt rave valves and throughly cleaned every part i could and its still smoking. It is still oil injected. I am at a loss of what to try next! Maybe rotary valve seal leaking? Id swear it smells like its running rich but i cant quite tell if the smoke is oil or gas. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Yes... I would say your seals are leaking too.... but... it should clear up after a few minutes of running.

2-stroke engines do smoke... but after it's warmed up... it should be minimal.

Is you smoke thick, where you can't see though it, or is it just a haze? The other thing... the oil smoke can mix with steam from the water that is going into the exhaust. If that's the case... make sure that the hoses aren't plugged up. You should have enough water going into the exhaust to keep it cool. (no steam)
