1997 GTX randomly shuts off at any speed...

1997 GTX randomly shuts off at any speed, machine runs very well but will just shut down (dash goes dead too), I have to remove and reinstall lanyard on the dess post a few times (sometimes just once, but sometimes 10 times), dash turns on and hit the Start button and all is good, sometimes I get the 2 beeps, sometime no beeps. This can happen many times in a row and sometimes it runs fine for an hour... Can this be a bad Dess post??

FYI, I have 2 lanyard "keys" and happens the same with both...

The post has gone bad. It's normal for the little magnetic switch inside of it to just give up.

mine was doing the same thing, I took a pencil eraser and cleaned all contact points, then cleaned them again with a little alcohol. I took my key and SLIGHTLY bent it where the two posts run down the inside cap to tighten them against the post. No problems since :thumbsup:
