1997 GTX MPEM question

Hey there i have a 97 gtx. I got it for basically nothing and I’ve seen it run over the summer. But now it doesn’t start because the MPEM had a short. I got another MPEM from the same model. However I’m having probably with the wire harness. Are there suppose to be extra plugs? Some plugs don’t have a female harness to plug into. Also what is this orange one suppose to connect to

Ok i will take a look. Looks somewhat confusing to read it like that.

Is the ski otherwise complete, no missing gauges? Did you replace the mpem or the entire gray box?

The entire box. The rest of the ski is complete.

Might be worth comparing the two boxes to be sure the same plugs exist on both. As mentioned above, there should not be any free plugs. I did notice in your pictures that of some wires look cut, maybe some previous owner modifications “eliminated” some plugs?
