1997 GTX flat spot around 3500-4000 RPM

My first Seadoo 1997 GTX with 42 hours. After some research I decided on a 717 or 787 and ended up with this 787.

After a first run the 3500-4000 RPM was really poor performance. Guy had crappy oil in it and I changed it out for Amsoil Interceptor as I use it in my dirt bikes. I split carbs and cleaned everything out and set low speed adjusters to 1 turn out and high speed PTO to 1/4 out and MAG to 0. Jets are stock. Carbs were pretty clean to start off with.

I then did the RAVES after gathering all the info on this great site. They were dirty and red adjusters were turned way in. Cleaned and red adjusters are now flush with caps.

Performance is better but still a flat spot around 3500-4000 RPM where it feels it is starving a little wee bit for the correct fuel-air mixture or maybe raves aren't opening enough. Is this normal for these engines? After I get past that spot it runs really well and smooth acceleration from 4000-6900 RPM (at 57mph 1 rider) with no issues.

Any suggestions as to my next move? Bigger pilot jets? More turns out on Low Speed adjusters? Or is this as good as it gets?

Thanx in advance for any suggestions.

Yes... a larger pilot, or dropping the pop-off will help cure a low speed sag in power. BUT... since i know that ski will run with the stock jetting... there is something else up if there is a performance issue.

Does the engine have any mods?

Dr,

Engine does not have any mods. It has been a little hot and quite humid, my elevation is about 1100' ASL. RAVES had never been cleaned as the paint on the bolts was still mated to the engine paint and it flaked off when I removed them. To me, it seems wee bit off at 3500-4000 RPM, but I think it could be better. I do get a bit of vibration at that flat spot as well. How are the vibration of these thru the RPM range? I have never owned one, so it's all new.

Maybe I am just expecting too much at the low RPM's. But I figured the RAVES would give more torque at the lower RPM range. What does the HP and Torque curves look like on these engines?

Thanx again for any comments.
