Hi,
I was hoping for troubleshooting suggestions if possible. I cannot find anyone that will service it in my area since it is so old.
I have had my 1997 Seadoo GTS for about 3 years now. Up until this year it has run without problems. Then about 2 months ago I took it to lake (first time this season) and it idled fine, but when I start to accelerate it begins to rev up and get faster. But then it sputters and stalls at about the same speed (I think since doesn't have speedometer). A buddy suggested I replaced spark plugs and it worked fine. I went out 2 or 3 times since then and all was well.
Then..... yesterday we went to lake again and it did the same thing. Idles fine (except it seems to be a little bit faster than before)....no smoke or anything. When I get out of the no wake zone and start to accelerate and pick up speed engine starts to struggle and sputter and will stall (no matter how slow I accelerate). Now I am just confused.
I was thinking maybe the oil to fuel ratio was too rich and it was clogging the spark plugs (I have yet to remove them). But if that was case, wouldn't I see smoke when accelerating? I don't. I was going to try to do the manual oil/fuel mix to give it a try....but before I do that, I wanted to check with you guys to see if it may be something else you recognize.
The gas is new, battery is great, and again the spark plugs are at most 2 months old.
thanks,
steven
