There was once a kit to wire my new tach to the big terminal block. It fit the connectors from the Tach which I bought and ended with 3 metal connectors that plugged into the wiring terminal block at specific numbered locations. My local dealer says the kit is obsolete. I can fab up wiring but how do you get those 3 metal connectors connected to the terminal block of connectos. I can separate the plug, but then there are connectors that match holes in the plug, no space I can see to plug in the 3 connectors.

A tach is good to have when tuneing your ski! Other than that it's pretty useless, like mirrors, cigar lighter, speedo, fuel guage, drink holder, water temp, depth guage ect.
Just my opinion, because I am too busy Hot-dogging! Those are too many things to worry about.

power wire, ground wire, signal wire ( from magnito) connects just before the rectifier, and usually has in-line 20 ohm resistor
The Shop Manual has wire diagram near the rear, Check out your schematic wire colors.
