Advice?
1997 GTI 720 I have owned for a year.
I have run probably 30-40 hours.
Top end was rebuilt by previous owner.
Pre-mix deleted by previous owner. I run 40:1
All new fuel lines last year. Pressure tested selector no leaks (then)
Did a carb clean last year. Filter 1/2 full of junk.
Started to get a mid range stumble and miss at about 5,000 rpm.
I did a carb rebuild this week as per the sticky post (Mikuni parts) 40psi pop off. (Manual says 36-40 it was nearer to 30 before kit)
After the carb rebuild a test run showed ever so slight improvement in top speed 1-2 mph.
Last night I pulled the plugs when I got home and they are substantially different from one side of each plug to the other.
The three images below are of the same plug from different angles. The second plug is identical so I didn’t attach images.
I don’t know how to read plugs. But one side looks scary white to me and the other side looks way to rich???
I’m putting in a fresh set and going for a ride today.
Any advice? I’m thinking about taking some fuel out of the low and or high needles but the colour scares me.
