Hey guys, I’m struggling with a 1997 Sea Doo GTI. It fires immediately on land and runs perfect. Will barely get on plane in the water. Like IMMEDIATLEY, not when it’s hot.
What’s been done:
- Compression Check - just over 150 on both cylinders.
- New wear ring
- Rebuilt Carb by Glen
- All New Fuel Lines
- New Filter
- Voltage was not increasing with RPM at the battery, new rectifier solved this.
- used clear line at carb to verify no air getting in.
- Inner Cranks seals SEEM ok, it doesn’t fill the case or have evidence of oil after sitting for days with the plugs pulled while cranking.
When you go to take off it smells like fuel, so it’s either way fat/rich, or not firing properly.
This is also the super weird year of the single carb 720 that doesn’t have the accelerator pump, all years after 1997 do. Someone HAS installed the newer carb WITH the accelerator pump on this machine.
Everything in me says carb, possibly someone put 1997 jets in the 1998 carb??? Glen has rebuilt carbs for me before, I so I am confident in his work, but jets may mess you up???
Thoughts??? What am I missing???
Keep in mind this problem is right on start up at the trailer, it NEVER runs properly in the water
