1997 Gsx Blew A Gob Of Gunk Out Exhaust!!

I have been fooling around with '97 GSX for the last couple of days getting it ready for the lake. I had already had it cranked a few times, but this one time it blew a giant gob of oily thick sludge out the exhaust. Made one hell of a mess on my porch!LOL! Ski runs fine, and cranks fine. Just wondering if I should be worried.

Depending on how long it was sitting around before it last ran for a good amount of time, you might be seeing oil that has gummed up in the cylinders and got stuck in the exhaust ports.

This could also be caused by water, fuel or oil build up inside the cylinders when it was stored - not fogged or purged of water from a flooding.

Check compression of the cylinders to rule out some type of problem with piston rings or scoring on the walls.
