I have a 97 challenger, single 787. the boat had been sitting a while before i bout it about 3 months ago.

I had it completely went though by a mechanic, and he got it running. said compression was great 146-150 in each cylinder. he went through the carbs several times before he found a spark problem.. it has newer fuel lines on it i think because they do not appear grey.

i took it out and it ran fine, had a hard time getting on plane, but once on plane it would run 50mph, and sounded great.

it started fouling plugs sometimes when i went out, and it would not reach max rpms. i would just replace them and it would be fine again.

now the boat will get on plane, and then cut out to an idle. if i idle for a while it will do it again.

the fuel pump is stuck on, so i have to unhook the ground from the battery.

i am thinking i have a fuel delivery problem, i am going to check the inline filter installed, and i am going to see if the fuel pump is working.

could this be a rave valve problem, i could use any help.

thanks

I doubt it's the RAVEs if you hit 50.

Trying disconnecting the red lead of the rectifier in the grey box.

Also, the fuel pump is driven by engine vacuum. The line is just behind the MAG carb. Make sure the clamps are tight.

You either have a fuel blockage or an electrical problem.

so, the humming sound that is on when the motor is off, and on for that matter, cannot be the fuel pump.

what could it be, it cuts off after unhooking the battery cable.
could it be a part of an electrical problem that is causing the engine to cut out after i get on plane.

What does disconnecting the red lead of the rectifier in the grey box do ??
And is it the one with the three yellow ones ??

May sound stupid but , I would check your fuel valve to see if there is a restriction in fuel flow, mine did that, may not be the problem but doesn't hurt to check. They are only 30 bucks to replace and worth the piece of mind.

Disconnecting the red lead on the rectifier disables the charging circuit. I have not seen it, but if you rectifier is bad, I have heard it can cause running issues.

It is the module with 3 yellow wires and one red.

Thank's , ,
I was wondering what the red wire did , , cuz the three yellow are the ones you can use to test the Stator..
