I just installed new wear rings on my two XP's and put in a prop from SBT.Now when installing the prop I found that it was binding up on the new wear ring WTH?Have you ever heard of this? Thank so much guy's

take it out in some water. It will shave off what it doesnt need.

Yes and no.

I’ve seen them so tight that they won’t spin. If you can turn it by hand… and it’s just tight… spray it down with WD40, and start the engine out of water… it will trim itself down.

If it’s so tight that you can’t move it by hand… make sure everything is put together right. (shims in the drive could have slipped out of place)

I have had the same problem, I took a piece of 80 Grit and just sanded the wear ring a little.. My assumption is you have a solid plastic ring.. Once I got it sanded a little I took an impact wrench to spin it.. Put it in and started the ski and all is good..

Did that/I think I'm gona get sick

Ok I did the start up and did the trim thing! Had one good weekend to ride before it started to rain for weeks here. But what I found was that it looked like the prop would rub and not again till it went 360.I think ether the prop is bent some or the shaft is? She seem to run fine on the water, but when I first fired it up dry it was a strange sound and shot fillings out in the shop! This also made my stomach do flips! I love my toy's more than most women I've know , so when something hurts them I feel like kick'n some butt!:ack:http://www.seadooforum.com/images/smilies/new/ack2.gif

it cant be a bent shaft or one blade bigger than anothers, or else it would rub all the way around....had same problem, just rubbed slightly on one side, fired it up, ran for the day, then pulled pump off, and now impellor tuns smooth and WAY within tolerance of gap...think it was "extra" material from the mold...?

I'm with ya

I get what you say, but why would it rub one spot on the ring and only on one spot on the prop.Rotate the prop 360 and here it starts to rub again same spot.Seems to me its bent.A wobbling affect is what it looks like, when it hits one side and the other now has more gap, rotate and you can see the gap changing as you rotate. But at
"WFO" only me and ya'll know about it,right!

think its more material/diform in pump, if anything...but spit'n out chunks, dont sound good, either chief...:ack:

unless the "bend" in shaft and "enlarged" blade, just happen to be 180* of each other...?..cant see happen'n, stud.

With now, that you've ran it, pull pump back off, and turn impellor, see if smooth?

shaven not stirred

Well not chunks, filings and shaven plastic.Smells like spec racing fuel.

According to the manual. If the wear ring is tight you use the impeller to machine off the wear ring. It will shave off excess material.

Apply BOMBARDIER Lube on the wear ring surface.
Start screwing the impeller on its shaft. If
impeller is too tight, use impeller tool to turn impeller
to machine wear ring before installing on vehicle.
Make sure to turn it smooth enough so that
engine starter should turn it.
