Hey i have a 1996 seadoo xp 787cc that is hard to start. plugs seem to be soaked in fuel. carbs were rebuilt and i checked the pop off pressure and i also checked that the needles held pressure for 30seconds like it says in the manual but it still seems to flood out then if you put dry plugs in it it will backfire out the exhaust then start running and run fine. before the carbs were rebuilt the machine used to just bogg for ten mins straight then it would clear out and go. the internal fuel filters were plugged almost solid. now it runs fine but wont always start? what do i look for next?
thanks

check the compression. Backfire could be caused from the excess fuel inside the chamber and exhaust.

Was the carb all together when checking the leakdown, if not, then when you put it together, the "tang" on the n/s, may be up above the inner plate, so when you installed everything,..now the "nipple" thats on the diaphram is now, resting on "tang", inwhich, it'll "lift" the needle up, causing it to leak?

If evrything you see is good, then you might have a stripped brass gear, which you'll need to tear off intake and see if it slips.

thanks, the carb was not together when i checked it. i will look at it. the compression was 150psi both sides so its good. i will look and see if i mounted it upsidedown or not. it would make sense that it was holding the needle open cause it only seems to be flooding on the mag side.
