Hey, just got me a 96 seadoo GTI for a good deal. I think it used to have the 717 engine in it but somebody put in a new bombardier rotax 650 engine in it. I have lots of questions but for my first task, I want to accomplish removing the oil injection...its all jacked up.
I took the oil tank out, the sending unit and all of the hoses. I havent taken the acutal pump out yet though.
I think I can just cap off all of the nipples on the engine were the lines were, but i wanted to make sure that the oil lines were actually hooked up in the right spot before I accidently cap off a water line that someone hooked an oil line to. Because everything was hooked up backwards from the previouse "mechanic".

So can I cap off all of these oil line fittings?

The two oil ports on the block are for filling the RV shaft section of the block with oil. That needs to be hooked up directly to the oil tank as shown in the service manual. The last picture is your injection inlet to the pump.

Thats a dang clean engine. But it makes me nervous not seeing some masking tape over the intake openings ;)

What is wrong with the oil injection? It all looks to be in place. You need to leave the tank in the hull and hooked up to the rotary valve or that motor won't last long.

So I have to leave the oil tank in the ski, with the oil lines hooked up to the two ports on the block?
I can still remove the pump and premix right? Will the 2 stroke oil circulate through the block and the tank, or just sit inside it for years and go bad. This doesnt make any sence.

Sorry I forgot to say, that engines not mine I found a picture of one on the internet like mine. Theres no way I could get my camera down there to take a picture.

And mine is dumping way too much oil into one cylinder and not dumping any into the other cylinder and its a 16 year old jet ski on at least its 2nd engine.

Personally I would leave the oil injection installed, the oil injection system is very reliable. Failures in the oil injection system are caused by lack of maintenance, generally not changing the oil injection filter and the injector hoses. The engine in your picture though very clean shows a lack of maintenance because it has the original oil injector lines.

However it's your ski. You will need to either remove the oil pump gear, by pulling the intake manifold or preferably using a block-off plate, you will also need to put caps on the injector fittings. Leave the oil tank in place and the other lines connected so the rotary valve gear receives lubrication. Run API-TC oil either mineral or synthetic blend at 40:1.

The check valves are typically to blame...take them both off and put a small piece of hose on it. You should be able to suck but not blow. (thats what she said anyways...lolol) If you can blow air into the valve its bad.

Thats the only issue with the 580-720 pumps...they rarely otherwise fail.

They are the banjo looking things that come off the pump that the little oil lines connect to. Make sure to replace those line. 3/64th ID if I remember.
