1996 sea doo gtx continuous beep even when lanyard removed

I have a 1996 gtx with a new sbt engine...still using break in oil on second tank of gas. It has been running great, but last weekend out of nowhere it started beeping. I immediately stopped and motor was cool to the touch...and I couldnt find any problems...It kept beeping even with the lanyard removed...so I onhooked neg post on battery to stop it. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Try unplugging the wire to the temp. sensor in the head cover. If it stops replace the sensor.
