My 96 GTX spedo doesnt work. The digital part on the info center seems to be working fine, reading proper mph but the needle gauge doesnt budge.

I have checked the fuses and they were good.

Any ideas?

Any help would be greatly apprectiated.

Thank you for your time.

Here is some information on the spedo;

Spedo restiance
For the Speedo on the rear of the boat is a sender that uses a little wheel with 3 wires. 2 are for the the speed, and 1 is for temp. if your boat is equiped with the temp. quage. Using a multi meter attached to 2 of the wires, and spin the wheel you seed read restiance depending on how fast you spin the little wheel. Then check contunity on the wires to the guage. If it isn't reading it might be a broken wire. If it sends a signal to the guage, the guage is bad.

I hope this helps.

Thank you for your reply. I figured it out. Went through my wiring diagrams and traced down wires going to the gauges. I guess someone has been in the front hood compartment and had some wires plugged in backwards.

The're are two purple and black plugs, hot and negative one in and one out. Someone had them plugged in the opposite plugs.

The gauge was plugged into itself. Switched the plugs and everything works great now.

The spedo not working didn't bother me as much as the low oil light not working at all.

Everything works great now. Even tested it with the air compressor.

Thank you for your help. I hope this might help someone else.

Thank you very much for your ideas. Now don't we all wish our problems would go away by simply switching plugs. Lol.

Thanks again and take care.
