Main bearing (next to the flywheel) failed on my 1996 GTX. Put a new SBT motor in, but now I've got a problem with the starter. The starter bendix doesn't always retract and sometimes sticks fully extended. I'm assuming that the bearing failure caused the flywheel to put force on the bendix and damaged it somehow, but not really sure.
Since I just rebuilt this starter last year, is there any way I can replace or repair the bendix? Any idea what's causing it to jam? Worth trying to fix it?
