I have a 1996 Seadoo gti. I am not to mechanical, so I need some help. I pulled off the flame arrester which is the original. What do I use to clean it or should it be replaced and how often.

Also I want to give my carb a quick cleaning, I have heard about taking the carbs off and soaking them. Like I said I am not to mechanical and little worried I won't be able to put everything back together. I have read some people use gum out for the carbs, but what can I use if I don't pull the carbs out? Is there anything I can spray inside and clean with a cloth.

Thanks guys

Do it.
Get yourself a manual and a few hours.
I got one with a bad motor that I'm trying to part.
I took out engine in a few hours.

With the airbox assembly off you should see the two carbs.
Remove the two top allen head bolts going through carb. Thendisconnect throttle/choke cables. They have a round end that comes off like a bicycle brake cable. You need to give it slack and slide round end of cable out out spring arm on carb.

Regards to spark arrestor not sure but some degreaser and water then make sure it dries 100% in the sun should be enough.

Thanks guys. Think I will try to take apart the carb. The grey tempo fuel lines, can I get them anywhere except the dealer?

I bought a roll of 1/4 inch fuel hose from Advanced auto and it worked fine. Get yourself a bunch of clamps too. Its not hard to change them all out with a few hours and do them one at a time. The thread listed above is great information. Good luck!
