:(My wife bought a 1996 Challenger (787) at an auction, as it turns out there are some issues with it.
The battery was dead so I replaced it. It turns over fine but there is no spark.

I removed the spark plugs and the forward cylinder has a lot of grey oily stuff in it, the spark plug was full of it. I did a compression check and both cylinders are 150-155. I'm hoping the rave seal is leaking but I fear there is a cracked block.

Any help is very much appreciated.

Check the lanyard switch is working correctly. Pull the rave valve out and give it a look over. They should be cleaned annually anyway.

Thanks Karl,

I'll be out of town for a week, will try that when I get back. When I plug the lanyard in I get 2 beeps, I thought that means it's working correctly.

Ok, if it gets 2 beeps try removing the spark plug caps and cutting off 1/4 " off the wire end. Replace the cap and see if it has spark...It might just be a corroded plug wire end.
