New to this, but had a quick ? I'm looking to buy a Challenger and the seller tells me it's not currently running, but they have a new carburetor and and throttle cable. I'm relatively mechanical, but wanted to see if anyone knew how difficult this would be to do. Thanks for any help..

Twin carbs.....

This model 787 has twin carbs. Make sure you have both of them. There is a Mag (magneto) carb and a PTO carb. Although they look alike, they are different.

These carbs are a few hundred dollars to replace,..............

Oh, BTW, I'd check the MPEM (multi purpose electronic module) before buying it, if he says it's not running. Put the battery in it and put the lanyard cap on the post (DESS, digital electronic security system). If the module is good, you'll hear 2 beeps.

If you don't hear 2 beeps, or no beeps at all. I wouldn't buy it till you find out what the problem is. If you have to buy the MPEM, it's about $700 bucks, depending on where you get it...........

Snipe thanks for the info will definately help with my decision. Just to clarify, the lanyard cap is the black semi-cirlce attached to the driver by a strap in the event he/she falls off, cutting off the engine. I has no idea it was part of a security system. Thanks again. I go to check it out on Sunday, let's hope all goes well... I'd love to pic her up...
